What a cash credit is

On registration, or on a code, the casino places a credit in the bonus balance. The arithmetic against free spins

With spins the wagering applies to what the spins won, which is unknown until they are played and is often small; with a credit it applies to the credit, which is known before the first bet. A 20-unit credit at 40x is hundreds of units of bets from the start, whatever happens; 100 spins worth 20 units at 40x on the winnings is 40 times whatever the spins returned, which on a high-volatility slot is often less than the 20. Where cash credits get voided

Because the player sets the stake, the terms cap it, and the max bet clause is where most cash credits die. The clause sets a maximum bet per spin or hand while the bonus is active, and the casino's software rarely enforces it at the moment of the bet; the history is read at withdrawal, a single bet over the cap is found, and the bonus and its winnings are voided under a clause the player accepted. Excluded games are the second trap: a credit that can be spent anywhere can be spent on a title the terms exclude, and the result is the same.
