Self exclusion in Poland: the state casino, the brands and the banks

One switch at the state casino blocks play and deposits and comes with limits whose increase is deliberately slow. Offshore brands open to Poland offer, at best, a self-exclusion and a cool-off inside one casino account, and at worst nothing. The one lever that reaches every casino at once is not a casino tool at all: it sits in the bank app.

How self-exclusion works at Total Casino

The state casino builds it into the account. Under Moje konto, then Odpowiedzialna gra, then Przerwy w grze, a player can choose samozawieszenie, a self-suspension, or samowykluczenie, a self-exclusion; both block play and deposits. Alongside them sit two kinds of limit, time limits and amount limits. The design choice that matters is on the way back up: the first request to raise a limit waits 24 hours, and from the third increase on the wait is up to 90 days. A limit that can be undone in a minute is a suggestion; one that takes three months to lift is a limit.

That is what a Polish licence buys in this area: tools written into the site by a company answerable to the Ministry of Finance. The legal versus offshore page weighs it against what the state site lacks.

What the offshore brands open to Poland offer

Less, and unevenly. Vavada, the tier-one brand most Polish readers open, offers self-exclusion and a cool-off period, and a review platform lists no deposit, wager, loss or session-limit tools alongside them. 1xSlots, closed to Poland now, is the same shape: exclusion and cool-off only, no deposit or session limits, no reality check. 1Go offers self-exclusion and a self-assessment test with no deposit, loss, wager, session or reality-check limits. Cactus routes an exclusion or a deposit-limit request through its support chat rather than a settings page. 1win is recorded by a review platform as having no responsible gambling tools at all.

Two things follow. An exclusion at an offshore brand is a promise by that brand about that account; it does not reach a sister brand under the same company, and the brands we review run in families of ten or twenty sites. And the request has to be made in writing, with the date kept, because the only enforcement is a later complaint.

Tip

Ask for the exclusion in the chat and by email on the same day, name the period, and save both. If offers keep arriving, each one is evidence.

The lever that reaches every casino: the bank-side block

A casino tool covers one casino. A bank tool covers every card payment you make. Revolut, which is both a BLIK bank in Poland and a card issuer, ships a gambling block under Profile, Security, Payments: off by default, immediate to switch on, up to 48 hours to switch off. It stops card payments to merchants using gambling merchant category codes. Its two limits are honest ones: it covers card payments only, so transfers and payments through third-party apps still go, and a merchant coded under a non-gambling category is not caught. The 48-hour delay on the way out is the design working, the same idea as Total Casino's 90-day wait to raise a limit.

Other Polish banks publish BLIK limits you can lower in the app; mBank sets daily limits under Ustawienia, Limity, BLIK, and a limit set low is a brake on every BLIK deposit at once. The bank-block guide covers the same switches from the other direction, for a player who wants a payment to go through; the switches are the same, the intent is yours.

What a regulator-level register looks like, and why Curacao is not one

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission runs a comprehensive self-exclusion request filed to the commission itself, by email to exclusion@gamingcommission.ca; it is permanent and irrevocable and applies across every site the commission licenses, and the commission keeps a full-time dispute resolution officer. That is the shape of an exclusion that outlives a single account. None of the brands we review for Poland is licensed there. The Curacao Gaming Authority, which licenses Vavada, Play Fortuna, Spinbetter, Booi and most of the tier-three brands, takes complaints at complaints@cga.cw and states that it does not resolve individual player disputes or order compensation; complaints feed its supervision of licensees. An Anjouan licence, behind Vodka, Cactus and BC.GAME, gives a European player no comparable route in practice. So for a Polish player the exclusion ladder is: the account tool, the bank tool, and a written record for a later complaint on a platform. The regulators guide ranks the licences by what they enforce.

When the casino ignores the request

It happens, and the documented case is at Gama, a brand closed to Poland: a self-exclusion request confirmed by an agent and never actioned, bonuses offered after the player wrote that he was addicted, the account closed only after further losses, and a resolution through a complaints platform for 665 dollars. The sequence is the template for a complaint anywhere: the dated request, the confirmation, the offers that followed, the losses after the date. A brand that lifts an exclusion or keeps sending offers is failing a duty it accepted in writing, and the blocked account guide lists the complaint routes by licence, including what the Curacao authority will and will not do.

  1. Write the request twice

In the chat and by email, on the same day, naming the period or asking for permanent exclusion. Keep both.

  2. Set the bank-side block the same day

The casino tool covers one account; the bank tool covers the card. Do both.

  3. Keep every offer that arrives afterwards

Each is evidence that the exclusion was not honoured.

  4. Complain with the record attached

To the brand first, then a complaints platform, then the regulator where one exists. The dates are the case.

The brand with the tools in the account

Vavada offers self-exclusion and a cool-off inside the account; it offers no deposit or session limits, so the bank-side switch is the second half.

Quick answers

How do I self-exclude at Total Casino

In the account, under Moje konto, Odpowiedzialna gra, Przerwy w grze, the state casino offers samozawieszenie, a self-suspension, and samowykluczenie, a self-exclusion; both block play and deposits. Separately it offers time limits and amount limits, and a request to raise a limit waits 24 hours the first time and up to 90 days from the third increase on.

Do offshore casinos offer self-exclusion

Some do, at the account level only. Vavada offers self-exclusion and a cool-off but no deposit, wager, loss or session limits; 1xSlots is the same, with no reality check; 1Go offers self-exclusion and a self-assessment test and no limits; Cactus takes an exclusion or deposit-limit request through support. A review platform records 1win as having no responsible gambling tools at all.

Is there a national self-exclusion register in Poland

Not one that reaches offshore brands. An exclusion at Total Casino applies to Total Casino. For contrast, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission runs a comprehensive self-exclusion request that is permanent and irrevocable across every site it licenses, filed to the commission itself; no brand we review under Curacao or Anjouan is inside such a register.

What if a casino ignores my self-exclusion

Write to the brand naming the date of the request and keep every offer it sends afterwards as evidence. A documented case at Gama, a brand closed to Poland, had a request confirmed by an agent and never actioned, bonuses offered afterwards, and a resolution through a complaints platform for 665 dollars. The blocked account guide covers the complaint route.
