How do you want a win to form?
Follow a payline
In the original The Dog House, a paying combination follows one of 20 fixed paths from the leftmost reel. The symbols can change rows as the path bends, but they must occupy the right positions on adjacent reels. Three matching dogs elsewhere on the screen do not automatically make a line win.
This layout suits you if you want to follow a highlighted path and see exactly where a Wild contributes. Other fixed-line games have different counts: the original Big Bass Bonanza has ten, while Wild West Gold has forty. The line count describes the game; it does not rank its return.
Follow matching reels through a ways game
Big Bass Bonanza Megaways has six changing reels and up to 46,656 available ways. A matching symbol can occupy different positions on consecutive reels, with the combination beginning at the left. More positions can create more potential routes through the reels. A route still needs the right symbols before it pays.
The Dog House Megaways and Wild West Gold Megaways reach a different layout ceiling of 117,649 available ways. These figures belong to their own games. They count possible ways in a reel arrangement, rather than wins delivered on each spin.
Count matching symbols anywhere
The original Sweet Bonanza and Gates of Olympus count eight or more matching ordinary symbols across their 6 × 5 grids. The copies can be apart, with other symbols between them. Winning symbols disappear, fresh ones fall into the gaps, and another qualifying screen continues the same tumble sequence.
Choose this pattern if you prefer counting across the whole screen. A symbol's count selects its payout band; the tumble and multiplier rules then determine how that award develops. Sweet Bonanza's free-spin bombs and Gates of Olympus's accumulating feature orbs have different rules, even though the basic counting pattern looks familiar.
Build a connected cluster
Sugar Rush needs at least five identical candies joined along their sides on a 7 × 7 grid. Diagonal contact alone does not join them, and five separated candies do not make a cluster. After a winning explosion, the positions underneath the candies can develop multipliers.
That gives you something different to watch: the history of a square as well as the symbol currently in it. During the free-spin feature, marked positions and multipliers persist between spins. The original position multiplier reaches 128x; Sugar Rush 1000 raises that individual-position ceiling to 1,024x. Neither number describes the payout of every cluster.
Aviator uses a different decision
Aviator is a crash game, so it sits in its own category. There are no paying reel combinations or Scatter-triggered free spins. A successful in-game cashout settles a stake at the accepted multiplier; a stake still active when the plane leaves is lost. Open its review if you want that decision rather than a reel mechanic. An in-game cashout and a withdrawal from a casino account are separate actions.
A familiar picture can hide a different edition
The Dog House: one grid, changing reels or more boards?
The original holds its doghouse Wilds on one 5 × 3 grid during the feature. Contributing multipliers add: two 3x Wilds give that winning line 6x. The Dog House Megaways changes to six variable-height reels and offers Sticky Wilds or Raining Wilds; the EUR rules model multiplies contributing doghouse factors on the same winning combination. Its configuration-specific review keeps the other help settings separate.
Multihold takes another direction. Its feature can open up to four 5 × 3 boards in order, copying sticky Wilds into a newly opened board. Each active board evaluates its own twenty lines. Choose according to the feature you want to follow, rather than treating the longer title as a larger version of the same award.
Big Bass: choose the collection you want to watch
The original combines ten fixed paylines with Fishermen collecting visible fish values in free spins. Keeping It Reel adds a landing net: uncollected Fish Money enters it, random escapes reduce it, and a Golden Wild can collect its current value. Hold & Spinner adds a separate four-life Money-symbol feature whose successful respins collect the current Money sum again.
Megaways changes the winning pattern and puts collection after the tumbles. Big Bass Bonanza 1000 gives its Money fish a largest listed value of 1,000x total stake, while its overall round cap is a separate amount. Those are distinct mechanics, not interchangeable names for one fishing bonus.
Sweet and Sugar: count the match before following the multiplier
Sweet Rush Bonanza has developing position multipliers, but still counts eight matching symbols anywhere on a 6 × 5 screen. Sugar Rush needs a side-connected cluster on a 7 × 7 board. Similar candy artwork does not give them the same winning pattern.
The Super Scatter editions add another distinction: a special prize at a qualifying Scatter trigger. The qualifying count is edition-specific. Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter and Gates of Olympus Super Scatter need at least four combined Scatters; Sugar Rush Super Scatter needs at least three. Count regular and Super Scatters for that threshold, then count Super Scatters for the additional prize. A lone special symbol does not qualify by itself.
Read the payout unit before comparing a number
A line-bet multiplier
The ordinary paytable in the original Wild West Gold uses bet per line. With all forty lines active, a hypothetical total stake of 2 units puts 0.05 units on each line. Its five-cowboy award of 400x line bet therefore gives 400 × 0.05 = 20 units on one qualifying line before any Wild multiplier. Reading 400 as a multiple of the whole 2-unit stake would use the wrong base.
A total-bet multiplier
The original The Dog House review expresses its ordinary paytable as multiples of total stake, following its EUR rules model. A five-Rottweiler line at 37.5x total stake would pay 37.5 × 2 = 75 units at a hypothetical 2-unit spin, before a contributing Wild multiplier. This is one line's calculation, with no other winning lines assumed.
The examples use different games to show why a large printed number is insufficient. Start with the unit, then apply the qualifying combination and its exact multiplier rule. Coins, line bet, bet per way, normal total stake and a paid ante amount can describe different quantities. The individual reviews retain the relevant units and calculations.
A multiplier symbol has its own scope
A 1,000x orb, a 1,024x position and a round maximum answer different questions. An orb belongs to a particular tumble calculation; a position contributes when a winning cluster uses that square; a round maximum caps the result under that game's rule. Their size alone cannot tell you how often you will win or what a session will return.
RTP, volatility and maximum win answer different questions
RTP belongs to a game configuration
RTP is a long-run mathematical return, not a percentage of your balance promised back after a session. The provider's Big Bass Bonanza 1000 catalogue lists 96.51%. Its English help also prints 96.51%, while an Italian help configuration prints 95.51%. Both refer to the named edition; one headline rate is insufficient to identify the version you are opening.
Open the information or help panel in the actual game and look for its RTP statement. Check the mode as well as the name: base play, an ante setting and a feature purchase can have separately stated rates. Use the exact game review to understand the configurations it describes; do not transfer one edition's rate to the whole family.
Volatility describes the pattern of awards
In Zeus vs Hades - Gods of War, Olympus is labelled high volatility and Hades very high. The mode comparison describes more frequent feature entry with a lower average feature award in Olympus, and rarer entry with a higher average feature award in Hades. That is a particular choice within one game, rather than a timetable for the next bonus.
Use volatility to think about the kind of variation you want to face. It is a different question from theoretical RTP, and a label does not supply a measured hit rate. A high maximum and a higher volatility label also leave the probability of reaching that maximum unanswered.
Maximum win is a possible ceiling
Sugar Rush's original round ceiling is 5,000x total bet. In Sugar Rush 1000, 1,024x instead names the ceiling of one position multiplier. Keep the noun attached to the number. Neither figure is a typical payout, a result from a played session or a promise about a stake you are considering.

Learn the exact rules first
Use the game review for the full paytable, special symbols, feature sequence and a worked calculation. The original The Dog House's 9-27 triggered free spins are a game feature, awarded through its paw-symbol sequence at the triggering stake. A casino's 100 promotional free spins are an account offer with their own game, spin value, activation rules, wagering base, funding conditions and any conversion limit. They use different stake bases. At a hypothetical 2-unit total stake across forty lines, the original Wild West Gold's five-cowboy award is 400x line bet: 20 units on one qualifying line. In The Dog House EUR rules model, a five-Rottweiler line pays 37.5x total stake, or 75 units at a hypothetical 2-unit stake. Both examples are before a contributing Wild multiplier.
