Poland guide

Revolut casino play from Poland: the block, the fees, the PLN account

Revolut is the rail the BLIK check does not touch, the card most Polish players already hold and a BLIK issuer in its own right. Using Revolut at a casino from Poland also means a gambling block with a 48-hour switch-off, a weekend exchange fee and an account that is Lithuanian with a Polish number. Every one of those is set out below from Revolut's own pages.

The gambling block: off by default, 48 hours to switch off

Revolut ships a feature called Gambling block, and the first thing to know is that it is disabled by default: a new account pays gambling merchants like any other. It sits under the profile icon, then Security, then Payments, then Gambling block. Enabling it is immediate and it works by merchant category: card payments to merchants using gambling merchant category codes are refused. Disabling it takes up to 48 hours, a deliberate cooling-off period, so a player who switched it on during a bad week cannot undo it in the same evening.

Two limits of the feature matter for a casino player. It is card-only: bank transfers and payments made through third-party apps are not affected, so a Revolut transfer to a casino or a BLIK code generated in the Revolut app goes through with the block on. And it catches only merchants coded as gambling: a casino processed under a non-gambling merchant code is not stopped, which is a reason to treat the block as a tool for yourself rather than a guarantee. If you want the deposit refused, switch it on and also use the self-exclusion tools on the casino side; if you want the deposit to go through and the card was declined, the block is the first setting to check.

Depositing with Revolut: the card, the transfer and the BLIK code

The brands on the list at the foot of this page print Revolut as a method in the cashier; at every other brand the Revolut card works as a Visa or Mastercard, subject to the same merchant code 7995 rules any issuer applies and to the block above. The third way is BLIK: Revolut is on the list of banks that issue BLIK codes, and its BLIK limits are far above a Polish bank's defaults, up to 50,000 PLN a day and up to 100 operations a day on a rolling 24-hour window, with P2P transfers up to 25,000 PLN a day, none of which the user can change. The register check still applies, because it runs at the scheme, not at the bank: a BLIK payment to a domain in the Ministry register fails before authorisation whichever app generated the code, and the BLIK casinos page explains what the cashier shows.

Revolut also sits behind Apple Pay and Google Pay in Poland, on both companies' lists of supported banks alongside PKO Bank Polski, Bank Pekao, mBank, ING and Bank Millennium, so a cashier with an Apple Pay or Google Pay button is another door for the same card. The deposit guide orders all the rails.

Exchange fees: fair usage, the weekend and the plan

Revolut charges nothing on a card payment in the card's own currency, so a zloty balance paying a zloty casino account costs nothing on Revolut's side. Fees appear when the casino account is in euro or dollars and the payment is converted. Each plan has a monthly fair-usage allowance exchanged at the Revolut rate: 5,000 PLN on Standard, after which 1% is added; 15,000 PLN on Plus, after which 0.5% is added; and no additional exchange fee on Premium, Metal and Ultra. Separately, exchanges made between five in the evening on Friday and six in the evening on Sunday, Eastern Time, carry a weekend fee of 1% on Standard and 0.5% on Plus, because the markets Revolut prices from are closed.

PlanMonthly allowance at the Revolut rateAbove the allowanceWeekend exchange
Standard5,000 PLN1%1%
Plus15,000 PLN0.5%0.5%
Premium, Metal, Ultrano additional exchange feenonenone stated for these plans

The practical reading: a Polish player who deposits on a Saturday evening into a euro account on Standard pays the weekend fee on top of whatever the allowance leaves, and pays it again when the euro comes back and is exchanged into zloty. A PLN casino account removes both legs, and the zloty casinos page lists the brands that hold one.

The PLN account: a Polish number on a Lithuanian bank

A personal Revolut account opened with a Polish address includes a Polish account number for local PLN inbound transfers, and local transfers in are routed through a UniCredit branch in Warsaw. That number is what a casino payout in zloty lands on, as a domestic transfer, which is why the withdrawal guide treats Revolut as one of three routes home. The euro account has a Lithuanian IBAN, and joint accounts get no Polish number: local details are for personal accounts only.

Who issues the account is worth stating precisely, because casino pages often get it wrong. The bank is Revolut Bank UAB, registered in Vilnius, holding a banking licence for the EEA and supervised by the Bank of Lithuania and the European Central Bank. The Polish presence is a branch of Revolut Ltd in Kraków, and a Polish banking branch has been announced as a plan, not licensed. So a Revolut PLN account is a European bank account with a Polish number, and a casino that asks for a Polish bank account for verification may or may not accept it; ask the chat before the first withdrawal rather than after.

The legal line

Nothing about Revolut changes the legal position of an offshore casino in Poland: the brand is licensed elsewhere and unlicensed here, and art. 107 § 2 of the Fiscal Penal Code attaches a fine of up to 120 daily rates to taking part in a foreign gambling game from Polish territory. The legality guide sets it out.

Before the first Revolut deposit

  1. Check the block

Profile, Security, Payments, Gambling block. Off by default; if you turned it on, switching it off takes up to 48 hours, so plan ahead rather than at the cashier.

  2. Match the currencies

A zloty casino account funded from a zloty Revolut balance converts nothing. A euro account starts the fair-usage and weekend fees.

  3. Prefer the listed method or BLIK over the bare card

Revolut as a cashier method or a BLIK code from the Revolut app avoids the merchant-code declines a card can meet; BLIK still fails on a domain in the register.

  4. Confirm the payout route with the chat

Ask whether a Revolut PLN account with a Polish number is accepted for withdrawals and for address verification before you deposit.

Brands open to Poland that list Revolut as a deposit method, best score first; the chips show a zloty balance, BLIK and a Polish interface where the cashier has them.

Quick answers

Does Revolut block casino payments

Only if you switch the block on. The gambling block is disabled by default, lives under Profile, Security, Payments, and when enabled stops card payments to merchants using gambling merchant category codes. Bank transfers and payments through third-party apps are not affected, and turning it off again takes up to 48 hours.

Can I deposit at a casino with Revolut from Poland

Yes, at every brand on the list above, which prints Revolut in its cashier, and by card at the others. Revolut also issues BLIK codes with a limit of up to 50,000 PLN a day, so the BLIK route on the deposit page works from a Revolut PLN balance as long as the domain is outside the Ministry register.

Is Revolut a Polish bank

No. The account is issued by Revolut Bank UAB in Lithuania, licensed for the EEA and supervised by the Bank of Lithuania and the European Central Bank. The Kraków office is a branch of Revolut Ltd, a Polish banking branch has been announced but not licensed, and this site does not describe Revolut as a Polish bank.

What does a casino payment on Revolut cost

Nothing from Revolut when the casino balance and your Revolut balance are both in zloty. A euro casino account is where the exchange fees start: a fair-usage allowance of 5,000 PLN a month on Standard and then 1%, 15,000 PLN on Plus and then 0.5%, plus 1% or 0.5% for exchanges at the weekend below Premium.
