Wild West Gold Megaways: multiplying Wilds and free spins

Sheriff Wilds multiply each other on the same winning way in Wild West Gold Megaways.

Pragmatic Play released it in 2022. The Western slot has six changing reels, up to 117,649 ways and seven starting free spins with Wilds that stay in place. It suits a reader who wants the sticky-Wild feature with variable reel sizes: the number of ways changes, and the Wilds change size with the reels.

The game keeps the cowboy, outlaw and cowgirl cast, alongside gold bags, revolvers and card ranks. Its strongest feature is easy to recognise once you know the rule: two Wilds marked 2x and 3x make a 6x multiplier on a winning combination that uses both. Sunset Scatters start the free spins; gold star overlays extend them.

How six changing reels produce a paying way

A paying combination starts on the leftmost reel and continues across adjacent reels. Matching symbols can sit at different heights, and their displayed sizes can differ. A matching symbol on reels one, two and three can pay; a gap on reel two breaks that combination even if the same symbol appears on reel three.

Each of the six reels can show up to seven symbols. Multiply the number of positions on all six reels to get the potential ways for that layout. Seven positions on every reel give 7 × 7 × 7 × 7 × 7 × 7 = 117,649 ways. That figure counts possible routes through the layout. A route still needs a paying symbol combination.

For a hypothetical three-reel win, suppose the same eligible symbol appears twice on reel one, three times on reel two and once on reel three. The result is 2 × 3 × 1 = 6 winning ways for that combination. Calculate each qualifying way using its payout and any Wilds it uses, then add the awards. A Wild on one route need not belong to every other route.

Only the highest qualifying win is paid on each way. A six-reel cowboy match therefore uses the six-reel cowboy payout, rather than also collecting separate three-, four- and five-reel cowboy awards on that same way. Awards from different winning ways are added to the total.

The complete ordinary paytable, in coin awards

The coin award is multiplied by the bet per way. The columns count consecutive matching reels from the left, including substituting Wilds where applicable. They are not multiples of the whole spin stake.

For example, a three-reel cowboy way pays 10 coin awards times the bet per way; the six-reel version pays 20. Gold bags and revolvers share the same row, as do A with K and Q with J and 10. The sheriff badge and both Scatter forms have separate jobs described below.

In the USD setting with a USD 2.00 total bet, the displayed cowboy payout is USD 1.00 for one three-reel way and USD 2.00 for one six-reel way before Wild multipliers. That cash display belongs to that stake and currency setting. Changing the total stake changes the cash amounts; the coin table keeps the payout structure readable.

Two sheriff Wilds on one way: 2x × 3x = 6x

The sheriff badge appears on reels two, three, four and five. It substitutes for ordinary symbols and cannot replace the sunset Scatter. Whenever a Wild lands, it can carry a random 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier.

Multiply the Wild multipliers that belong to the same winning combination. A 2x Wild and a 3x Wild give 6x; they do not give the 5x result produced by adding their labels. The resulting multiplier applies to that combination's ordinary payout. Two badges elsewhere on the screen do not automatically multiply every award.

Hypothetical calculation: take the USD 1.00 three-reel cowboy way from the USD 2.00 paytable. If that way uses a 2x Wild on reel two and a 3x Wild on reel three, its award is USD 1.00 × 2 × 3 = USD 6.00. This is arithmetic for a specified combination, not a recorded spin or a forecast.

Wild multipliers on one winning way A hypothetical USD 1.00 cowboy way with 2x and 3x Wilds pays USD 6.00 because the Wild multipliers multiply. One three-reel cowboy way USD 1.00 before Wilds Wilds used by that way 2x × 3x = 6x Award for that way USD 1.00 × 6 = USD 6.00 Hypothetical; USD 2.00 total stake

Sunset Scatters start seven spins; stars add time

The sunset Scatter can appear on any reel. Three or more anywhere on the screen trigger seven free spins. Extra sunset Scatters increase the separate cash award, while the starting spin count stays at seven.

At a hypothetical USD 2.00 total stake, six sunset Scatters pay 500 × USD 2.00 = USD 1,000 and start seven free spins, subject to the round cap. They do not start six spins or six times the initial feature.

During free spins, every Wild that lands stays until the feature ends and receives a 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier. The Wild changes size when its reel changes size on later spins. A reel carrying sticky Wilds retains at least enough positions for the number of sticky Wilds on it. Reel resizing therefore does not remove a retained Wild simply by making the reel smaller.

That creates the feature's continuing interest: a badge that helped one combination remains available on later spins, and new badges can join it. The left-to-right matching rule still applies. Sticky Wilds improve the combinations they participate in; they do not make every later spin a win.

Gold star Scatter overlays can appear on top of any symbol, including sticky Wilds. Their role is to add spins during the feature:

Six star overlays add six spins to the feature. Their award is extra play, separate from the sunset Scatter's 500x cash award. The feature finishes when its spins run out, or immediately when the 5,000x total-bet cap is reached. At the cap, the award is limited to that amount and remaining features are forfeited. The feature win is awarded after the round finishes; its history entry contains the whole cycle's win.

Ante Bet and a bought feature have different prices

The USD configuration offers normal play with a 20x bet multiplier and Ante Bet at 25x at the same coin setting. Ante increases the stake by 25% and puts more Scatters on the reels, increasing the chance of the feature trigger. It does not double the value of a paying way or promise a feature within a fixed number of spins.

A hypothetical normal USD 2.00 spin becomes USD 2.50 with that 25/20 setting: USD 2.00 × 25 ÷ 20 = USD 2.50. Compare the actual displayed total BET before starting; the higher spin price is part of Ante's cost.

Where the USD Buy Free Spins option is available, it costs 100x the current total bet. At a hypothetical USD 2.00 stake, that is USD 200.00 for the trigger. The bought trigger can land three, four, five or six sunset Scatters at random and starts the same seven initial free spins. The Scatter count changes its cash award; purchasing does not choose the count.

Buy Free Spins is disabled while Ante Bet is active in this USD configuration. These are different routes into the feature, so a 100x purchase should be read with its own cost and return setting. Buying a feature does not promise that it returns the purchase price. The GBP configuration documents Ante Bet but does not specify a feature-buy option or its return.

Read RTP and stake limits for the selected currency setting

Pragmatic Play lists 96.44% RTP for Wild West Gold Megaways. The documented GBP and USD settings share that normal-play figure and an Ante figure of 96.41%. The USD setting also gives 96.45% for Buy Free Spins. Use the percentage for the selected mode, rather than applying the buy figure to ordinary spins.

RTP describes the theoretical proportion returned across long-run game activity. 96.44% is not the chance of winning a spin, nor a promise to get USD 96.44 back from a USD 100 session. Individual sessions can differ greatly from the theoretical percentage.

The GBP game rules label volatility High; the USD help labels it Low. Keep that distinction attached to the setting instead of treating either label as universal. A volatility label describes the game's payout pattern qualitatively. It gives no exact frequency, losing-streak length or chance of reaching the maximum.

The GBP and USD stake ranges are their own printed ranges. They do not establish EUR or PLN limits, and the listed maximum alone does not identify a separate Ante maximum. For a real-money decision, the game's Information page and current BET display are the useful places to read the configuration you have opened.

Find the controls before choosing a spin mode

The Information button opens the payout and rules pages. The arrows move between those pages; the close control returns to the reels. Start there when matching the selected stake to its cash payouts, RTP and available feature options.

The plus and minus buttons open or adjust the bet menu. In the USD menu, BET and COIN VALUE control the setting, and the menu shows the total in coins and cash. CREDIT and BET labels also switch between coin and cash views. The displayed balance is different from the selected spin cost.

Settings let you toggle the introduction, ambient audio and sound effects, and open game history. The speed control cycles through normal, quick and turbo presentation. Autoplay has its own menu and stop control where available. These controls change how play is presented or started; they do not change the left-to-right payway rule or the Wild multiplier arithmetic.

Choose Megaways for the resizing sticky-Wild feature

Wild West Gold Megaways is the Western version to choose when variable reel sizes and multiplying badges are the attraction. Seven spins can grow through star overlays, while retained Wilds remain part of the feature as reels resize. The tradeoff is a changing layout: a large ways count by itself says little about whether that spin has a paying combination.

The original Wild West Gold has 40 fixed paylines, eight initial free spins and additive Wild multipliers. Its star-overlay awards are four, eight, twelve or twenty extra spins. Keep its payline and feature arithmetic separate from Megaways. Choose the original for the fixed-line version; choose Megaways for variable ways and Wilds that multiply within a combination.

For free-play exploration, the provider's game page identifies this exact Megaways title and its game presentation. Demo credits have no cash value, and a demo setting does not establish a casino's real-money stake limits or bonus eligibility. For a casino choice, Vavada's general review explains its catalogue, account and bonus options; confirm the exact game title in the casino before attaching that choice to this edition. A provider name in a casino's catalogue does not establish every game from that provider.

Questions about the Megaways feature

Do six Scatters give more than seven starting free spins?

Six sunset Scatters still start seven free spins and pay 500x the total bet. Six gold star overlays during the feature add six extra spins. They are different symbols with different awards.

Are 2x and 3x Wilds added together?

On the same winning combination, they multiply to 6x. Each winning way uses the Wild multipliers that belong to it. The original Wild West Gold uses a different, additive rule.

Does 117,649 ways mean a better chance on every spin?

117,649 is the maximum potential way count when each of six reels shows seven symbols. Winning still requires qualifying adjacent matches from the leftmost reel; the figure is not a win probability.

What happens if the feature reaches 5,000x?

The round ends immediately, its award is capped at 5,000x the total bet and remaining features are forfeited.
