Why the max bet differs between casinos: four ceilings on one slot

The same slot at two casinos accepts two different maximum stakes, and a high roller who assumed the studio's figure finds the casino's at the reel. The ceiling is set four times: by the studio in the game, by the casino in its configuration, by the currency and country the account runs in, and by the bonus terms while a bonus is active. This page takes the four in order, with the tracked ranges of the slots covered here as the reference, and says where to read each before depositing.

The studio's range

A slot ships with a minimum and a maximum stake built into its mathematics, and a tracker records what it finds on the version it tests. Among the slots covered here Slot Catalog puts most Pragmatic Play line games at 0.2 to 100, The Dog House, Gates of Olympus, Wild West Gold, Cleocatra, The Hand of Midas and Sugar Rush 1000 among them; Heroic Spins and Sugar Rush Super Scatter at 0.2 to 240; Hot Fiesta at 0.25 to 125; Zeus vs Hades at 0.1 to 100; and Gates of Olympus Super Scatter at 0.2 to 36, the lowest ceiling in the set on the game with the highest maximum win, which is the studio managing its own exposure to the 50,000x. The studio's ceiling is the hard limit: no casino can raise it, and the number on the tracker is the most any casino anywhere can offer on that version.

The tracked ranges

The casino's configuration

Every casino sets a ceiling at or below the studio's for each game, and the reasons are its own: the size of its bankroll against the game's maximum win, the terms of its agreement with the studio, the limits its payment providers impose on it, and the exposure its risk team accepts on a single spin. A casino that runs a 50,000x title at the studio's full stake is exposed to a single outcome worth many times its daily payout; most lower it. The result is that the same title at two brands shows two maxima on its info screen, and neither is wrong: the studio's is the version's, the casino's is the casino's. The RTP guide says where the info screen is; the bet range is on the same screen, and it is the one to read after depositing and before the first large stake.

Same title, two ceilings

The studio's figure is the most any casino can offer. The casino's figure is what this casino does offer, in this currency, today. Only the second applies to your spin.

Currency and country

A casino that offers accounts in euros, zloty, rupees and a dozen coins converts the studio's range into each and rounds, and it sets exposure limits per currency according to its rails: a currency it pays out through a provider with a low transfer cap gets a low bet ceiling, so that a win can be paid. Country works the same way, because the licence and the payment methods differ by market, and a brand may run one ceiling for its European players and another for Latin America. For a high roller the practical rule is to hold the account in the currency the casino pays out most easily, which the review's cashier section names, and to ask support for the maximum bet on a named game in that currency before depositing. The currency hub says which brands hold which currencies.

The withdrawal ceiling behind the bet ceiling

A bet ceiling is set with the payout in mind. A brand with a daily withdrawal limit of USD 1,000 has a reason to keep its maximum stake low; a brand with no stated maximum, as Stake's help centre says, has less. The high roller hub prints the withdrawal ceilings side by side.

The bonus ceiling, and raising the rest

The lowest ceiling of the four is the bonus max bet, a limit in the bonus terms on the stake per spin while a bonus balance is active, printed as a small sum or a share of the bonus, and enforced at withdrawal after the software has let the bet through. For a high roller it is the trap: a deposit bonus accepted for its headline caps the stake at a fraction of what the bankroll would place, and a single spin above it voids the bonus and its winnings. The game rules page covers the clause and the high roller bonuses page the arithmetic that usually says to decline. The other three ceilings move in the other direction: the casino's configuration rises with VIP tier at some brands and on request to a host at most, for a named game and in writing; the currency ceiling rises with the rails; the studio's does not move.

Before the first large stake

  1. Decline the bonus, or read its max bet

  2. Ask support for the ceiling on the named game in your currency, in writing

  3. Deposit, open the game, read the range on the info screen

  4. Check the withdrawal ceiling against the win you are playing for

Questions about the maximum bet

Who sets the maximum bet on a slot

The studio first, as a range built into the game: Slot Catalog records 0.2 to 100 on The Dog House, 0.2 to 240 on Heroic Spins and Sugar Rush Super Scatter, 0.2 to 36 on Gates of Olympus Super Scatter. The casino then configures its own ceiling at or below the studio's, per game and per currency, and the bonus terms set a lower one while a bonus is active.

Why is the max bet lower in my currency

Because the casino converts the studio's range into each currency it offers and rounds, and because it sets exposure limits per currency according to its own bankroll and its payment rails. A ceiling of 100 in euros can be a different figure in zloty or rupees, and the game's info screen at that casino shows the one in force.

Can the max bet be raised

At some brands with VIP tier, and at most on request to a host, in writing, for a named game. The studio's ceiling is the hard limit; the casino's is a setting. Ask before depositing, and keep the answer.

What happens if I bet above the bonus max bet

The software usually accepts the bet, and the breach is found at withdrawal, when the bonus and its winnings are voided. The bonus max bet is the lowest of the ceilings and the one most often broken; the game rules page in the bonus section covers it.
