Roulette online: how the wheel sets the price before you place a bet

Online roulette is priced by its wheel: a single zero table returns 97.30 percent and a double zero table gives the house nearly twice as much. The bets, the layout and the live studio all sit on top of that one fact, and this page starts from it.

Why the wheel decides everything

Every payout on the layout is calculated as if the zero did not exist, and the zero does. That gap is the whole house edge: 2.70 percent on a single zero wheel, a return of 97.30, and 5.26 percent on a wheel with a second zero pocket. The bets do not change it: a straight number, a split, a column and a red or black bet all carry the same edge on the same wheel. What you choose is the shape of the session, frequent small wins or rare large ones, not the price.

Online lobbies carry both wheels, often under names that do not say which. Look at the wheel graphic or the layout: one green pocket or two. The table RTP guide puts both wheels beside blackjack and baccarat on one scale.

Important

A double zero table with a bigger welcome banner is a worse game than a single zero table with none. The wheel is the only thing on the page that sets your price.

What the bets on the layout are

Inside bets sit on the numbers: a single number, or a chip placed on the line between two, three, four or six numbers to cover them together. Outside bets sit around the grid: red or black, odd or even, low or high, a dozen, a column. Inside bets pay more and hit less; outside bets pay less and hit more; the even-money bets lose to the zero like everything else, which is what the edge is.

A racetrack, on most online tables, lets you bet on neighbouring pockets on the wheel rather than on the grid, which is the same bets placed by wheel position. Nothing on the racetrack changes the price either.

Two stake rules are worth reading before the first chip. Tables set a minimum per bet and a minimum for the table as a whole, so several small inside bets may need to add up to the table minimum together. And the maximum differs between inside and outside bets, with straight numbers capped lower than red or black; a bettor doubling after losses meets that cap sooner than the arithmetic suggests.

How RNG roulette differs from the live wheel

RNG roulette is software: each spin is a number from a certified generator mapped to a pocket, the animation is decoration, and the pace is yours. Live roulette is a physical wheel in a studio, spun by a dealer on camera, with a betting window before each spin and other players at the table; the result is mechanical, and the laboratories that certify generators inspect the wheels and the studio procedures instead. The practical differences: RNG tables take lower minimum stakes and spin as fast as you click; live tables run at the pace of the wheel, take higher minimums, and offer the variants below. The edge on a single zero wheel is the same in both.

What the studio variants add and take

Live studios run the base game and a set of variants: automatic wheels with no dealer, tables with several cameras and slow-motion replays, and game-show versions that add random multipliers to straight-number wins on some spins while trimming the ordinary payout on the same bets to fund them. The multiplier versions are louder and the base price of the bet is not lower; read the paytable inside the game before assuming the bonus round is free.

Language matters more than variant for many readers. Studios run tables with dealers speaking the players' languages at set hours, and the brand pages say which lobbies carry Polish-speaking tables.

Why betting systems do not move the price

Because every bet carries the same edge, any sequence of bets carries it too. Doubling after a loss produces a session with many small wins and one loss large enough to erase them, and a table maximum that ends the sequence before the win arrives. Betting on both red and black covers the numbers and still loses to the zero, and bonus terms treat it as low-risk play that can void the bonus. The wheel does not remember the last spin; a run of reds tells you nothing about the next.

What a system can do is set a stop. Decide the stake and the number of spins before the first chip, treat the sequence as a way to leave the table on time, and expect the wheel's price at the end of it.
