Baccarat rules from the first cards to the payout

Baccarat has two hands, Player and Banker. Bet on the higher final score, or on a Tie. Scores run from 0 to 9, and the drawing rules determine every extra card. Your wager chooses an outcome; it gives you no hit or stand decision.

The rules below follow Pragmatic Play Live Baccarat v3.4 and its named No-Commission Baccarat version. Classic Banker wins pay 0.95:1. In this No-Commission version, Banker normally pays 1:1, but a winning Banker 6 pays 0.5:1. That difference matters even when the cards and winning hand are identical.

Read the cards by their points

Pragmatic Play's documented game uses eight standard decks of 52 cards. Ace is worth 1 point. Cards 2 through 9 keep their printed values. A 10, Jack, Queen or King is worth 0. Suits do not change the main hand score; they can matter for a separate pair wager.

Add the points and keep the final digit. A hand cannot score more than 9. Two 9s add up to 18 and score 8; King plus Queen scores 0. Ace, 5 and 8 add up to 14 and score 4. A third card can therefore reduce the displayed score: adding an 8 to a total of 5 produces 13, which scores 3.

Natural means an initial two-card 8 or 9. If either initial hand is natural, both hands stop drawing. Compare their scores to settle the result. Natural 9 beats natural 8; equal naturals tie. Reaching 8 or 9 with a third card does not make the hand an initial natural.

Hypothetical hand: two naturals still need a comparison

Choose one EUR10 main wager while betting is open. The initial deal is Player 9, Banker 4, Player King, Banker 4. Player has 9 + 0 = 9; Banker has 4 + 4 = 8. Both are naturals, so neither receives another card. Player 9 wins against Banker 8.

Hypothetical natural 9 beats natural 8 Player has 9 and King, scoring 9. Banker has 4 and 4, scoring 8. Both stand; Player wins. Hypothetical opening cards 9K44 Player9 + 0 = 9Natural: standBanker4 + 4 = 8Natural: stand Player 9 wins against 8

Who receives a third card?

The first four cards go Player, Banker, Player, Banker. Check both initial totals for a natural before applying any drawing rule. With no natural, resolve Player first and Banker second. Each hand has two cards or three, so a completed round uses four to six cards.

  1. If either initial total is 8 or 9, both hands stand and the round settles.
  2. Otherwise, Player draws on 0 through 5 and stands on 6 or 7.
  3. If Player stands, Banker draws on 0 through 5 and stands on 6 or 7.
  4. If Player draws, use Banker's initial total and the point value of Player's third card to decide whether Banker draws.

The last step is where the chart can be misread. Its column describes the third card itself. It does not describe Player's final score after that card has been added.

Full third-card reference

D = Draw; S = Stand. The first column after Banker's total applies when Player stands on 6 or 7 without a natural on either side. The numbered columns show Player's third-card point value. Rows 8 and 9 preserve the stand entries, but a Banker natural prevents Player drawing in the first place.

Follow a Banker win from stake to settlement

This hypothetical round uses a EUR10 Banker wager. It shows every drawing decision before comparing the two payout rules.

  1. Place the EUR10 Banker wager while betting is open. After BETS CLOSED, the wager cannot be changed; BETS ACCEPTED identifies its acceptance for the round.
  2. Deal Player Ace, Banker Ace, Player 2, Banker 3. Player starts on 3 and Banker on 4. Neither has a natural.
  3. Player draws a 2 because its initial total is 3. Its final score is 1 + 2 + 2 = 5.
  4. Banker starts on 4 and sees a Player third card worth 2. The drawing chart requires another Banker card. Give Banker a hypothetical 2; its final score is 1 + 3 + 2 = 6.
  5. Banker 6 beats Player 5. Settle the EUR10 Banker wager using the selected version's rule.

Gross return includes your original stake. Profit is the amount above that stake. At odds of a:1, a winning stake s produces profit s × a and a gross return of s + (s × a). A push returns s with zero profit. A losing wager returns zero and loses its full stake.

Player, Banker and Tie pay against the wager you chose

In classic Live Baccarat, Player pays 1:1 for a Player win, Banker pays 0.95:1 for a Banker win, and Tie pays 8:1 when both final scores are equal. If the round ties, Player and Banker wagers push: their original stakes return with no profit.

The 0.95:1 Banker rate already includes the 5% commission effect. Subtracting another 5% would charge it twice. Likewise, seeing a tied round does not give a Player or Banker wager an 8:1 payout. That payment belongs to a Tie wager actually placed for that round.

The No-Commission Banker exception

Pragmatic Play No-Commission Baccarat removes the usual 5% Banker commission. A Banker win with a total other than 6 pays 1:1, giving EUR10 profit and EUR20 gross return on a hypothetical EUR10 stake. A winning Banker 6 pays 0.5:1, giving EUR5 profit and EUR15 gross return.

Evolution's separately named No Commission Baccarat also describes the half-pay Banker-6 exception. The matching exception does not make every provider's Baccarat rules or side wagers identical. Identify the exact game's rule before applying the rate.

The label No Commission alone cannot settle a return comparison. Compare the payout rule that replaces commission, especially its exceptional winning outcomes. Keep main-wager rates separate from the larger ratios attached to side wagers.

The rule changes the payout for the same winning hand. Compare the return attached to each table-game wager.

Three hands that expose common drawing mistakes

Player's third card is 8, but the final hand is 3

Player starts with 2 + 3 = 5. Banker starts with Ace + 2 = 3. Neither is natural. Player draws an 8, taking its sum to 13 and its final score to 3. Banker stands: an initial Banker 3 stands against a Player third card worth 8. Player's final total of 3 is not the chart column.

The hand ties at 3/3. An alternative EUR10 Player or Banker wager returns EUR10 with no profit. An alternative EUR10 Tie wager returns EUR90, including EUR80 profit. These outcomes compare separate wager choices.

Banker has a natural while Player has 4

Player's initial cards are 2 + 2 = 4. Banker's are 9 + 9 = 18, scoring 8. Banker has a natural, so both hands stand. Player does not draw on 4 in this round. Banker 8 beats Player 4.

Banker has 6 and loses

Player starts with 8 + King = 8; Banker starts with 3 + 3 = 6. Player's natural stops further cards and Player wins. A hypothetical EUR10 Banker wager loses EUR10. A separate EUR2 Super 6 wager also loses EUR2 because Banker did not win with 6. Merely having a 6 triggers neither the No-Commission win payment nor Super 6's payout.

Side wagers use their own stake and winning condition

A main wager follows the final Player, Banker or Tie result. A pair wager looks at the initial two cards. Player Bonus or Banker Bonus follows its own natural or winning-margin schedule. Super 6 requires a winning Banker 6. Adding one creates another wager to settle and increases Total Bet.

Pair wagers: matching rank is different from matching points

Player Pair and Banker Pair pay 11:1 when the corresponding initial hand is a pair. They accept perfect pairs, coloured pairs and mixed pairs. A perfect pair has the same rank and suit; a coloured pair has the same rank and colour with different suits; a mixed pair has the same rank with different suits and colours.

King and Queen both count 0 toward the main score, but they are different ranks and do not form a pair. The point total used to decide the winning main hand is a different test from rank matching.

These four pair wagers can be placed without a main wager in this documented version. Either Pair pays the listed 5:1 when either or both hands pair; two pairs do not create an extra doubled payout. Eight decks allow identical cards of the same rank and suit to appear together.

Player Bonus and Banker Bonus follow the winning margin

For the corresponding hand's non-natural win, the payout depends on its final score minus the other hand's final score. A natural win pays 1:1 and a natural tie pushes. The complete schedule is:

Non-natural win by 9 points

The main wager can win while its Bonus wager misses a listed winning condition. In the earlier hypothetical 6-versus-5 round, Banker wins by 1 point without a natural. That satisfies the Banker main wager, but it does not meet the Bonus schedule's non-natural winning margins. Apply each rate to that wager's own stake.

Super 6 beside the half-pay Banker win

In Pragmatic Play No-Commission Baccarat, Super 6 pays 15:1 when Banker wins with 6. You must first place at least one main wager, and the Super 6 stake cannot exceed the main wager's value. Super 6 together with Player is not treated as opposite betting in this version.

For the earlier hypothetical Banker 6 win, add a separate EUR2 Super 6 wager beside EUR10 on Banker. EUR2 does not exceed EUR10. The Super 6 produces EUR30 profit plus its EUR2 stake, for EUR32 gross return. The No-Commission Banker wager returns EUR15. Across both wagers, EUR12 was staked, EUR47 returns, and the profit is EUR35.

Those figures describe one chosen winning example. Super 6 adds EUR2 of exposure and loses its own stake whenever its winning condition fails. Its 15:1 ratio never applies to the EUR10 main Banker wager.

Side wagers can become unavailable

The v3.4 rules disable Player Bonus, Banker Bonus and Super 6 after 44 game rounds, and Player Pair, Banker Pair, Either Pair and Perfect Pair after 60 game rounds. Treat these as the table's game-round rules; joining a table does not establish a fresh personal allowance of side wagers. Side wagers are optional; use the bets currently enabled for the selected table and read their own limits before including them in Total Bet.

Place and adjust a wager before betting closes

In the documented interface, PLEASE PLACE YOUR BETS opens the betting period. Select a chip value, then the wager's betting area. The available balance must cover every main and side wager placed. Total Bet is the sum of all wagers for that round. Opposite Player and Banker bets may be blocked.

Read the table name, limits and payout rule together

Match the table to the rules before applying a payout calculation. In Pragmatic Play's documented interface, the Table Name identifies the table and the Table Limits area opens Bet Limits & Payouts. That window gives minimums, maximums and payout odds for each wager type. Game Help opens the game's detailed help.

  1. Identify the exact table name and whether its rules say classic Live Baccarat or No-Commission Baccarat.
  2. Open Table Limits / Bet Limits & Payouts. Read the chosen wager's minimum, maximum and odds, including any Banker exception.
  3. Open Game Help and match the drawing and side-wager conditions to that table.
  4. Read the displayed Balance currency and Total Bet before committing any wager. EUR examples do not set the table's stakes or currency.

All Games lets you browse other tables while the current table remains open until another game table is selected. Browsing the lobby is not an accepted-bet cancellation action.

Road displays record past results and statistics for the current shoe. They can help you read what has happened. They do not change the third-card rule or the payout attached to your wager, and a displayed pattern gives no guaranteed next result.

A lost connection and a cancelled round are different cases

Settlement depends on the accepted wager and the round's status. Losing the video or connection does not by itself cancel an accepted wager.

Compare the rules before choosing the next table

Use the same winning hand to compare payouts: a Banker 6 win on EUR10 gives EUR9.50 profit in classic Live Baccarat and EUR5 in the named No-Commission version. A different Banker win pays EUR10 profit in that No-Commission version. That is the rule difference to carry into a table-game return comparison.

Compare table-game return to understand how a wager's payouts and outcome probabilities contribute to its theoretical return. For the wider casino decision, a casino review gives the casino's own information. Match the specific Baccarat table name, currency and rule set separately.
